SuRIA Home Solar Rebate 2026: Get Up to RM3,000 Rebate for Your Home Solar System

Everything Malaysian Homeowners Need to Know About the New Government Solar Incentive

With electricity costs continuing to rise, more Malaysian homeowners are looking for ways to reduce their monthly bills and gain greater control over their energy expenses.

To support residential solar adoption, the Malaysian government has introduced the Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home Programme, offering eligible homeowners rebates of up to RM3,000 for installing Solar PV systems under the Solar ATAP programme.

If you're considering solar for your home, here's everything you need to know about the SuRIA Home Solar Rebate 2026.

What is the SuRIA Home Programme?

The SuRIA Home Programme is a government initiative introduced by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) to encourage more Malaysian households to adopt solar energy.

The programme aims to:

✅ Reduce the impact of rising electricity costs on households

✅ Make residential solar more affordable

✅ Accelerate Malaysia's transition towards cleaner energy

✅ Encourage wider adoption of rooftop solar systems nationwide

The initiative was officially announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Amar Fadillah bin Haji Yusof.

How Much Rebate Can Homeowners Receive?

Eligible homeowners can receive:

💰 Up to RM3,000 Solar Rebate

The rebate is calculated based on the installed system size:

Solar System SizeRebate Amount1 kWacRM6002 kWacRM1,2003 kWacRM1,8004 kWacRM2,4005 kWac and aboveRM3,000 (Maximum)

The maximum rebate available under the programme is RM3,000 per eligible applicant.

This incentive helps reduce the upfront investment required for residential solar installation, making solar ownership more accessible to Malaysian homeowners.

When Does the Programme Start?

The SuRIA Home Programme officially commenced on:

📅 1 June 2026

The programme will remain open until:

  • 31 December 2026, or

  • The nationwide quota of 250MW has been fully utilised

whichever comes first.

Because the programme operates on a limited allocation basis, homeowners are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

To qualify for the rebate, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility Criteria

  2. Submit their bank account information

  3. Complete the required verification process

  4. Receive the rebate payment directly into their registered local bank account

The rebate is paid directly to the account holder after successful verification by the relevant authorities.

Why Homeowners Are Choosing Solar in 2026

Beyond the rebate itself, homeowners are increasingly adopting solar because it offers long-term savings and protection against future electricity tariff increases.

Some key benefits include:

☀️ Lower monthly electricity bills

☀️ Reduced dependence on grid electricity

☀️ Better long-term energy cost management

☀️ Increased property value

☀️ Contribution towards a cleaner and more sustainable future

When combined with the SuRIA Home rebate, the return on investment for residential solar becomes even more attractive.
